There is Still Time by Robert L. Penick
The sun continues to rise
every dawn without fail.
The coffee house talkers still
gabber over iced lattes
and current pop trivia
while currents of vehicles
draw identical lines on
streets bordering on ancient.
There is still time to regain
the lost form, the missing steps
in your tango, bite
through the rose stem and polish
anew each old cliché like,
well, like a new apple.
That’s what I’m trying to say.
This world is your apple.
every dawn without fail.
The coffee house talkers still
gabber over iced lattes
and current pop trivia
while currents of vehicles
draw identical lines on
streets bordering on ancient.
There is still time to regain
the lost form, the missing steps
in your tango, bite
through the rose stem and polish
anew each old cliché like,
well, like a new apple.
That’s what I’m trying to say.
This world is your apple.
