SUGAR CUBE by C. Cimmone

In the beginning
he rested carefully-
            compressed crystals
            of continuity
As time went on
his corners began to round-
           screaming at me
           for not knowing
           the size
           of my ring finger
Once dropped in
he began to dissolve:
           His top caved in
           He broke in half
Now a puddle
of crème liquor;
            A concoction
            hard to gather
            A sticky mess
            dripping at my
Wedding band.
