12 months by Phrieda Bogere

i spent twelve months
scratching my skin with
pieces of glass,
becoming dissatisfied
with my routine,
and spending the nights
writing, constantly writing,
until my hands are tired
and i think i’ve had enough.

i’ve been running from
the things i’ve wanted,
paralyzed by time,
peeling back the layers,
still feeling empty inside.
thinking about how
i’m too old to be
making the same mistakes,
why healing is anything
but linear, is all of this
worth trying again,
if nothing goes
as planned.

Phrieda Bogere's Bio
Phrieda has written poetry for years before making the decision to share her work with a wider audience. Her work has been featured in Brave Voices Magazine, Across The Margin, Writing In A Woman's Voice, and others. When she isn't writing, she loves exercising and getting lost in a good book.
